Stocking Stuffer O.K. aka Midge
Midge came from a family who bought her at an auction and didn't know what they were getting into. They called us and asked if they could come up and talk about Shetlands. Low and behold they were pulling a trailer when they came. Midge, small and bewildered, was in tow.
She was small and unsuspecting. I immediately named her Midge. Little did they know when they brought her, she had incurred an eye injury. We called the vet right away, and we worked with her eye for 10 days. Thank Goodness and all we believe in - she didn't loose her sight!
We didn't know what we would do with her as she wasn't anything like our other shetlands. We did have an O.K. filly already, but her body type was way different than Midge's.
It took a year of feed and coaxing, but Midge is actually now a beautiful mare who has taken several Reserve Champsionships this summer.
Her temperment is golden - she will put up with anything, including kids hanging on her tail and legs.
Midge went to the 2008 Congress this summer with the others and held her own.
Little did I know she is out of the famous Raven of Bird Haven and has beautiful shoulders and hip line.
